Every icon in our studio starts with a sketch on paper and it seemed perfectly natural, that some sketches evolved into autonomous artworks. Compared to icons, images on paper give a wider range of expressions. Allowing to release emotions, they also give countless opportunities to investigate any interesting theme. As opposed to an icon on wood, painting or drawing on paper does not feel reliable enough to be used as a decent image for prayer. In our understanding, it is more qualified for experiments and illustrations of biblical events. To work on paper Olga uses egg tempera, ordinary pen, and colored pencils.
